SCENE 1: Dating

Narrator: The bride and groom walk down a crowded street. Adam runs into Elsa as he crosses the road.

ትዕይንት ፩ - አዳምና ኤልሳ በብዙ ሰዎች የተሞላ መንገድ ይሄዳሉ። አዳም መንገዱን ሲያቋርጥ ኤልሳን ተጋጨ።

Tory: Oh, I'm so sorry!

ይቅርታ!

Yoanna: No worries.

Tory: Sorry I didn't see you there. are you okay? I noticed your beauty earlier, what is your name?

Yoanna: Thank you. My name is Yoanna. Tory, it's nice to meet you

Tory: Um, I know this might be forward, but would you like to grab a coffee sometime?

SCENE 2: Telling their best friends

Narrator: The bride and groom are talking separately about the match to their best friends.

ትዕይንት ፪ -ን ሙሽሪት እና ሙሽራው ለየቅርብ ጓደኞቻቸው ስለ ግጥሚያው እየተነጋገሩ ነው።

Tory: Solomae, you won't believe what happened! I bumped into this amazing girl on the street today, and we hit it off!

One month later…

Narrator: Tory, having met Yoanna and feeling a deep connection, decides it's time to take the next step. He approaches his father, Mateos, for guidance and support in finding a Shimagilay.

Mateos: (placing a reassuring hand on Tory's shoulder) Of course, my son. I will do everything in my power to help you. Let's find the right person together.

SCENE 3: Asking the bride’s parents for her hand in marriage

Narrator: Tory and Mateos set out to find the right Shimagilay, someone respected and trusted in the community. After careful consideration, they approach the chosen elder.

ትዕይንት ፫ - አዳምና አባት በህብረተሰቡ ዘንድ የሚከበር እና የሚታመን ሰው ትክክለኛውን ሽማጊላይ ለማግኘት ተነሱ። በጥንቃቄ ከተመረመሩ በኋላ ወደ ተመረጠው ሽማግሌ ቀርበዋል።

Tory: (approaching the Shimagilay respectfully) Excuse me, respected elder. I come seeking your guidance and blessing. I have met someone special, and I wish to ask for her hand in marriage. Will you be my Shimagilay?

ይቅርታ የተከበሩ ሽማግሌ። ያንተን መመሪያ እና በረከት ለማግኘት መጣሁ። ልዩ የሆነ ሰው አግኝቻለሁ፣ እና እጇን ለትዳር ልጠይቃት እፈልጋለሁ። የኔ ሺማጊላይ ትሆናለህ?

Shimagilay: (smiling warmly) Tory, my boy, it would be an honor to be your Shimagilay. I will gladly support you in this journey. Let us go and speak with the bride's family.

አደም የኔ ልጅ ሺማጊላይ መሆንህ ክብር ነው። በዚህ ጉዞ ውስጥ በደስታ እደግፋለሁ. ሄደን ከሙሽሪት ቤተሰቦች ጋር እንነጋገር።

Father: Don't forget we need to find some more elders, it should be an even number like four or six.

Narrator: With the Shimagilay's blessing, Tory prepares to approach the bride's family to formally ask for Yoanna's hand in marriage. Will they accept his proposal? Let's find out in the next scene.

SCENE 4: The Shimagilays' discussion with the bride's parents

Narrator: The scene opens with the Shimagilays, accompanied by Mateos, approaching the home of the bride's family. They are greeted warmly by Hanna and Hebron, the bride's parents.

ትዕይንት ፬ - የሺማጊሊስ ውይይት ከሙሽሪት ወላጆች ጋር

ተራኪ፡- ትዕይንቱ የተከፈተው በሺማጊሌዎች፣ በአባት ታጅበው፣ ወደ ሙሽሪት ቤተሰብ ቤት እየቀረቡ ነው። የሙሽራዋ ወላጆች አቤል እና ጽዮን ሞቅ ያለ አቀባበል አድርገውላቸዋል።

Hanna: Welcome, respected elders. What brings you to our humble abode today?

አቤል፡ እንኳን ደህና መጣህ የተከበራችሁ ሽማግሌዎች። ዛሬ ወደ ትሑት መኖሪያችን ምን አመጣህ?

Shimagilay 1: Thank you, Hanna. We come on behalf of Tory, the son of our dear friend Mateos. He seeks your permission and blessings to marry your daughter, Yoanna.

አመሰግናለሁ አቤል። የምንወደው የአቦን ልጅ አዳምን ወክለው ነው። ልጅሽን ኤልሳን ለማግባት የአንተን ፍቃድ እና በረከት ይፈልጋል።

Hebron: [Surprised] Oh, I see. Please, come in and let us discuss this matter further.

Shimagilay 3: Yes, he is a hardworking young man, dedicated to his studies and his family. He has shown great respect for his elders and has always conducted himself with honor.
